We believe that we are stewards of the earth.  Therefore we make an effort to be as gentle as possible to the earth around us.  This is achieved in three ways.

First- we use reclaimed lumber or FSC certified lumber in all our pieces.  The Forestry Stewardship Council is an international recognized organization that promotes sustainable logging practices.  This ensures that the timber we are using is coming from sustainable, managed forests.

We also use products like Plyboo, which is Bamboo plywood.  Bamboo is a very sustainable product.  Also plywood from Columbia Forest Products, they use a soy based glue technology called “Pure Bond” instead of Formaldehyde based glues.

Second- we only use non-toxic glues and finishes.  Studies have proven the dangers of Formaldehyde glues and the effects they have over a long period of time due to “off gassing”.  Therefore we do not use Urea Formaldehyde Glue or Plastic Resin Glue.
We primarily use natural wood oil finishes on our products, but when asked we will use water based finishes as well.  Where paint in the primary finish we use natural Old Fashion MILK Paint.

Third- we reduce our waste and energy use through planning.  Each piece is well thought out and planned to produce the least amount of waste as we can.  All waste pieces are kept and used in other products and pieces.  We take every opportunity we can to use hand tools when building.  This decreases the amount of energy used to produce each piece.
