KALA studios is a design and build firm based on the out skirts of Washington D.C.  Founded in 2008, we strive to build custom design pieces of furniture with clients individual needs in mind.

As a design and build firm we also specialize in small limited production pieces.  We also are in the process of designing a line of children’s furniture.

kaleo kala

a native Hawaiian transplanted before birth to Washington dc, Kaleo grew up with wood in his blood.  His father was a talented cabinetmaker who ran his own business, doing such work as the interior cabinetry in Union Station in Washington dc.  His grandfather was an exquisite Hawaiian carver.

Deciding to focus on furniture Kaleo received his degree in furniture design from the university of Tasmania in Australia.  Upon returning from school he worked for BDDW a design and build firm out of SOHO, NYC.

Now Kaleo is the head designer of KALA studios, making the world a cooler place one sustainable design at a time.
